After browsing multiple forums, I switched to a Trust BT-2400P BT 2.1 dongle which works better : although the Magic Mouse sometimes does not wake up after (too long/deep ?) sleep, I can at least reconnect it without rebooting using the BT Preferences Panel. with a USB mouse 😟.
I suppose I could do some Automator script assigned to a function key, but I have been too lazy to do it yet.
Remember also to apply the Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 for Leopard on top of 10.5.8 (does not work with previous OSX versions).
For the wireless keyboard battery issue in conjunction with the Magic Mouse, Apple put on-line recently an Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Update (v1.1 for 2007 models and v1.0 for 2009 ones).
